Robert Moreno appointed head coach of South Korea
The Korea Football Association announced the appointment of Robert Moreno as head coach of South Korea on 1 September. He will lead the national team for six matches, through 27 November.
On 1 September, at the Korea Football Park in Cheonan, the board of the Korea Football Association (KFA) approved the appointment of Robert Moreno as head coach of the South Korean national team. The mandate covers six international fixtures — two in September, two in October and two in November — and runs until 27 November 2026.
Moreno is the first Spanish coach to lead Korea’s senior national team, and the first appointed through an open public call in the federation’s history: a process he entered alongside other candidates, resolved after a documentary stage and an interview.
His staff comprises Eduardo Docampo as first assistant, Jacint Magrinyà in analysis and methodology, Víctor Bravo de Soto in tactics, Javier Chocarro in fitness and Nico Bosch as goalkeeping coach. The staff will be based in Cheonan and will follow the K League in person.
The first fixtures are the Hana Bank Invitational: Ecuador on 24 September and Uruguay on 28 September, both at home. In October, Venezuela on the 2nd and Uzbekistan on the 6th. The two November matches will be played between the 9th and the 17th.
«It is an honour and it is a responsibility. I have known and respected Korean football for years, and now my job is to work for it. I will not promise results: I promise work, honesty and respect. Whatever we have to say, we will say it on the pitch.»
Robert Moreno will speak to the media at his official presentation in South Korea. He will not be giving interviews before then.
