Mutual agreement to part ways after one year and eight months leading the sporting project

About this statement: Robert Moreno and PFC Sochi have reached a mutual agreement to part ways. After one year and eight months at the helm, the Spanish coach communicates his departure with a message of gratitude and institutional commitment, published on his social media on 1 September 2025.
«I leave with a clear conscience, knowing I gave everything for these colours, and I wish FC Sochi the greatest success in the future.» — Robert Moreno, 1 September 2025

The full statement

Every chapter has a beginning and an end, and today my time as coach of FC Sochi has come to its conclusion.

In elite football, honesty and commitment to the club must come above everything else. Therefore, after a sincere conversation, we have mutually agreed that the best course of action for the team is to go our separate ways. I firmly believe it is the most responsible step to help the club achieve its objectives this season. I have waived the majority of my contract so that the institution has greater room to pursue new signings.

After one year and eight months, I have nothing but words of gratitude. To the players for their dedication, to the coaching staff and every club employee for their professionalism and daily support. And, of course, to the fans. I have felt your warmth in every match, especially during the difficult moments, and that is something I will never forget.

I leave with a clear conscience, knowing I gave everything for these colours, and I wish FC Sochi the greatest success in the future.

A gesture of institutional commitment

The statement highlights a significant detail: Robert Moreno voluntarily waived the majority of his contract so the club could have more resources for new signings. A gesture that speaks of professionalism, responsibility and genuine commitment to the project beyond personal interest.

After one year and eight months at the helm of PFC Sochi, Moreno leaves behind a legacy of sporting rebuilding, having led the team to promotion to the RPL (Russian Premier League) and laying the foundations of a competitive project in Russian football.
