Many times you find yourself shaped by the narrative others want to build around\n            someone who is in the elite.<\/p>\n        <p>Today I would define myself as someone who has understood that his job goes beyond preparing\n            training sessions, choosing a system, tactics, or analysing an opponent. At first I thought that was it.\n            But then I realised it was something else entirely.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-highlight\">\n        &#8220;You become a balancer: someone who has to lift the team&#8217;s sadness and contain their\n        excessive joy.&#8221;\n        <span>\u2014 Robert Moreno<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-dialog\">\n        <div class=\"rm-speaker\">Robert Moreno<\/div>\n        <p>I had a kid in the youth academy who told me: &#8220;When I see you nervous on the touchline, I get nervous\n            on the pitch.&#8221; That&#8217;s when you start to realise the impact your behaviour has on the\n            players.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-dialog\">\n        <div class=\"rm-speaker\">Robert Moreno<\/div>\n        <p>Before, 100% of my time was devoted to tactics, methodology, match preparation, analysing opponents.\n            For me, that was everything. But now I&#8217;ve realised that was only 20% of what being\n            a head coach really is. The other 80% is essentially about relating to people.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-highlight\">\n        &#8220;Tactics are 20%. In\n            Russia, everyone knew who was in charge. The issue was that there were many people around him\n            trying to influence him.<\/p>\n        <p>What interests me most, when I go to a country, is understanding its culture and its\n            levels of communication. Talking to someone from Russia is not the same as talking to someone from France, the\n            Arab world, or the Americas. That part, which is invisible to the general public, is very important for a\n            coach.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-highlight\">\n        &#8220;We are not prepared to deal with uncertainty. Evolutionarily, we seek safety,\n        survival. And at a club you have to manage all of that without always having an optimal answer.&#8221;\n        <span>\u2014 Robert Moreno<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <hr\/>\n\n    <h3 class=\"rm-section\">Upholding your judgement at the elite level<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-dialog\">\n        <div class=\"rm-speaker rm-host\">David Soler<\/div>\n        <p>What is the hardest thing to sustain once you&#8217;re at the elite level?<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-dialog\">\n        <div class=\"rm-speaker\">Robert Moreno<\/div>\n        <p>The hardest thing to maintain is your own judgement. When all the noise pushes you to change, when\n            criticism is easy and superficial. Not because the person making it is superficial, but\n            because the information they have from the outside can only be that way.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"rm-highlight\">\n        &#8220;If you&#8217;re going to lose, lose with your own decisions. If you lose by doing what others impose on you, you suffer a\n        double defeat: the result and not having been yourself.
